Technology and Support Services

Learning online with the George Washington University gives you free access to a variety of software and services to support your learning.

You can also receive 24/7 IT support through Martha Chat, GW’s easy-to-use virtual assistant. Get your questions answered or submit a request to our IT team.

Online Learning Hardware Requirements

GW uses the Blackboard learning management system, which allows you to contact your professors and access your coursework, readings, exams, grades and more in one location.

To use Blackboard, we recommend the following:

  Mac Windows-Based PC
Operating System Mac OS X 10.7 or newer Windows 7, 8 or 10
Recommended Browsers The newest versions of Firefox, Chrome or Safari The newest versions of Firefox, Chrome or Internet Explorer

Though Blackboard works on tablets and smartphones, we recommend using a laptop or desktop computer for the highest-quality experience.
